If you have a business, I unreservedly demand you to find a way to get people to Creep It!
You've heard the slang? Facebook creeping is spying on the Facebook page of someone you met recently (or maybe not)... to view as much of their info and pictures as you can dig up. I'll expand "creeping" to include everything they can find about you.
Wait! Ummm, why am I encouraging it? Why should you want people to creep your biz?
You're kidding, right? If you missed it, we're in an era where there is explosive growth in the number of people making buying decisions online... before they ever talk to you.
Many people would prefer to stalk your online info and make their own decision as to whether or not you're worthy of their money.
Don't worry... if they have questions, they will let you know. Let's make that as easy as possible, ok?
Instead of calling your phone number and listening to you or your loyal, self-promoting staff tell them how great you are... they want to do a little of their own detective work. This isn't going to be a cold case files thing. They are going to creep you for a few minutes and then close the deal in a blink! If you don't let them do that, they're gone... to someone else.
If you're still stuck in the Yellowpages era, your business is not achieving its full growth potential and you're leaving your slighty more savvy competitors free to pick off your customers one by one.
This post is a wake up call for small businesses in local areas like the one where I grew up in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Today I searched online for a local chiropractor. I turned up lots of results for Sydney... with a grand total of one of them that had a website... a poorly designed one given how easy it is to grab a beautiful WordPress template these days or Launch.forum once we cut the red ribbon!
Forget about social media and the 100s of different strategies that could help grow their business. All they need to begin with right now is a very simple website that (a) tells me who they are, (b) shows me a pic of who they are, (c) tells me what they do, and (d) offers me several ways to reach out to them... including both telephone and email. It could all be done on just one landing page...
The rest of these local businesses are fully 10 years behind in having even a basic website online. They are not even promoting an email address to send them a quick inquiry! The result...
I cannot creep them.
