I love the functionality of it. First impressions of the style is there is too much white space and it appears things are just floating around, such as the Tweet and Like buttons under the thread title here. Also, why the double use of tweet and share? Seems a bit over the top.

Do you mean whitespace within the center layout, or because we're fixed width and too much open space to the left and the right? We're going to be exploring some options for making use of the margins (on larger screen resolutions) for new content instead of going directly after a fluid layout. We're also very close to streamlining postbit which will create more usable space within every post, making better use of open space without completely eating up all the whitespace.
For the defaults, we leave the placement of the Tweet + Like, and Share buttons (in first post) active, but you can disable either or both. We can look at some alternative placements. I see what you mean that the like button in particular doesn't have a clear association with other elements when it comes to alignment.
